It’s the End of the World as We Know It!
And I Feel Fine
Rev. Dr. Michelle Morris

Revelation 21:1-7
In the end, we find our hope! It is hard fought and we are battle-scarred, but ultimately, as followers of Christ, we know that we will find ourselves in a place of peace and healing. We will affirm this without belittling what we have been through. Suffering is very real, but so is the power of Christ’s redemption and love.

Coming up next week: Children First and OneWorship and Bread needed!

Remember our worship schedule for Sunday, October 6:
9 a.m. - Children First in Hines Hall
11 a.m. - OneWorship unified service in the Sanctuary. Rev. Sara Bainbridge will be preaching for World Communion Sunday.

Note for World Communion Sunday:
If anyone has a special bread they make from another country, would you consider making it for World Communion Sunday?.... It would be so much fun to have bread from all over the world. If you can please contact Sara Bainbridge. 479-263-6628

Journey to Sager Brown for a week - Info meeting Sept 29
UMCOR Sager Brown, Louisiana, February 2-7, 2025 Mission Trip Registration
After the tornados and high winds ripped through NWA in May, we experienced the relief that UMCOR provides when disaster hits; we know how valuable their work is. Our church will be leading another team Feb 2-7, 2025, to support this important work at Sager Brown by helping in their current area of need. Each year the work is slightly different but last year we helped pack relief kits, performed light construction, and assisted in outreach opportunities in town. While this is a working mission trip, it is also a faith-filled week with an opportunity for a spiritual retreat because we have rest time for reflection and devotion throughout our stay. We also have one day for sightseeing. As we meet other groups who travel in, we grow closer in relationship to one another, to others and to Christ as we reflect and work together.

In February 2024, our church sent a team of 12 to the UMCOR Sager Brown Mission in Baldwin, Louisiana and we have room to take 16 this year!  The cost is $330.00 per person including meals and lodging. Transportation and sightseeing are not included but we will try to coordinate as a group. Full payment is required at registration and refunds are not guaranteed for cancellation. Sign-up deadline is October 25, 2024.

** To learn more, come to a short informational meeting on September 29, near the coffee station after the 9 am worship service or contact Johnna Kosnoff at (310) 343-8699. Save them from soda and disposable water bottles (though we do encourage you to use a refillable water bottle) and bring them to put in the collection points at church (office and coffee hour area). Pastor Michelle has a new book - Discounts through Oct 1
From Pastor Michelle:
About a year ago, I began working on a project with seven other clergy from the Arkansas Conference. We were asked to participate in writing a book of favorite Sunday School lessons for our churches. I just received word that this book is at the press and will soon begin shipping. Our publisher, Market Square Books, sent some discount codes for authors to pass along to our friends. You can use one of these codes by going to the book page at the url below and entering your code when checking out:
https://www.marketsquarebooks.com/store/p126/More_Favorite_Sunday_School_Lessons%3A_by_Clergy_of_the_Arkansas_Conference.html

10 FRIEND (10 percent off any purchase through October 1)
15 FRIEND (15 percent off purchase of 4 or more books through October 1)
20 FRIEND (20 percent off purchase of 10 or more books through October 1)

Best of all, proceeds from this book are being donated to Project Transformation Arkansas. I hope you’ll consider ordering books for your church.

The book is in “pre-order” status until the books arrive from the printer (in about two weeks). Soon, you’ll be able to find the book at Amazon, Cokesbury and other booksellers.

Thank you for supporting our work and Project Transformation Arkansas.

Pastor Michelle’s Apocalypse Playlist
Many of the songs shared in the Gathering during this Revelation series come from Pastor Michelle’s Apocalypse playlist, and she has promised to share it. Here is the Spotify link. Warning: where edited song versions could be found they have been included, but a few songs have explicit lyrics.
