11.15.24 FUMC Announcements

November 12, 2024

Sunday, November 17
State of the Church
Rev. Dr. Michelle Morris

1 Corinthians 8:1-13
We will reflect on the State of the Church, and in particular, we will look at how our work as a church where All Are Welcome is going.  If we are to be truly living into that reality, then we will have to face the fact that all of us will feel unwelcome sometimes. It is about having enough humility to love in the midst of difference.

State of the Church Address this Sunday
This Sunday's sermon is Pastor Michelle's annual State of the Church address. She will lift up some celebrations of the past year, and share exciting things for the coming year. Please plan to attend worship in person or online.

Disaster Recovery to Reactivate - How to Help
With another round of tornadoes in our area will come another round of need. If you have damage and need some assistance, or if you can help, contact our disaster coordinator Bev Casper (816-820-0531). Also, you can give to disaster recovery by making a note on a check to give to UMCOR, or choosing the UMCOR option on our give page here.

Walmart Gives
We have learned that Walmart Gives is back up and running for this month.  If you can give through it so that the church can receive some matching funds, it would be greatly appreciated (We are listed as First Methodist Church, our address is 201 NW 2nd St, Bentonville AR).  Please let Chandra know her email is  if any other giving needs to be paused for the month. Also, remember that when they reach the amount they have allotted to match, the program stops, so the sooner you can respond, the more likely the matching funds will be available.

Here is what we received:
Associate Giving Match program has opened!!
This Seasons of Giving, November 1-30 will match 1:1 up to $2 million in Associate giving to nonprofits around the country.
Encourage Walmart Associates to give during this time. It is important to know that the opportunity to give is open until November 30th- the match may be reached prior to that date.
Associates are invited to go to our Spark Good Deed platform https://walmart.joindeed.org/
