Joshua 4:21-24 & Revelations 19:5-8
January is a time when we are looking forward to the excitement of a new year. But before we, as a church, strike out on this new shiny new year, let’s pause and appreciate the path behind us. What has come before us and who are the folks whose faithfulness and the corner of 2nd & A have carried this ministry to today? We may not always have been on the best path, but good people called Methodists have worked to listen to God's voice and have left a powerful legacy of faith, community, and joyful worship on this amazing corner of the world.

Charge Conference on Tuesday, January 23
Our first Church Council meeting of the year will also serve as a Charge Conference meeting to vote on allowing Michelle Amos to enter the process for ordination. The meeting will be Tuesday, January 23 at 6 p.m. in the Gathering Room or via Zoom.
Family Ministries
Children's Sunday School will resume on January 7th.
Wednesday KIDS will resume on January 17th.
(Ms. Allison and Ms. Lexie will be at a Ministry Conference on the 10th)
Youth Sunday School will resume on January 7th.
Youth Sunday Night SALT will resume on January 14th.
Wednesday Night Sacred Cinema will resume on January 17th.

2024 Church Council Committees Regular Meetings
Our 2024 Church Council Committees start meeting this month. All meetings are held in the Gathering Room or on Zoom and are open to any member of the church, except for the Staff Parish Relations Committee, which has to handle confidential information. Only committee members are eligible to vote on matters, however. Here is the regular schedule (though always check to make sure a meeting hasn't been canceled):
First Tuesday of each month - Staff Parish Relations Committee, 6 p.m.
Second Tuesday of each month - Trustees Committee, 5:30 p.m.
Third Tuesday of each month - Finance Committee, 6 p.m.
Fourth Tuesday of each month - Church Council, 6 p.m.
After this month's Trustees meeting, when they elect a chair and vice chair, an updated list of all committee members will be available on the website.
Pastor Michelle's Wednesday Bible Study Paused
Due to holidays and travel conflicts, Pastor Michelle's Wednesday Night Bible Study will pause for a few weeks and resume on Wednesday, January 17.
Celebrate the Sanctuary
We will celebrate 70 years of worship in the Sanctuary on Sunday, January 7 (and Pastor Michelle's 50th birthday that same weekend). We will have cake in celebration during the Sunday school hour that day and will mark the day in worship at 9 & 11 a.m. Both worship Services (9 and 11) will be held in the Sanctuary that day. Also, if you have memories to share about moments in the Sanctuary, contact Pastor Ray & Michelle and share them with them!
New Sermon Series!
Our new sermon series is called: Living the Dream - that is living into the dream God has for us here at FUMC Bentonville. On January 7, as we begin the new year, we will reflect on our past on this corner as a Methodist Church with special emphasis on celebrating the people whose vision built this sanctuary 70 years ago! On January 14 we will reflect on where we are presently in this dream God has for this congregation. On January 21 Pastor Michelle and Pastor Ray will engage in a reflective conversation on how we continue to live the Dream of God on this extraordinary corner.
