The Prayer Shawl Ministry of FUMC Bentonville seeks to provide a tangible piece of comfort and security during times of joy and sorrow. Grounded in the Jewish tradition, prayer shawls have been a source of hope and healing for centuries. Our aim at FUMC is to continue this tradition. The shawls are prayed over, stitch by stitch, and row by row. By the time the person receives it, the shawl is filled with prayers for the individual. When they wrap themselves in it, we hope they will feel the warmth and love the prayers and yarn have become.

We meet on Thursdays at 2PM and on Fridays at 10am in the church conference room. All skill levels are welcome. We will teach you how to knit or crochet if you so desire. We also accept monetary donations to purchase yarn. Please drop off your donation with the church office or place it in the offering plate on Sunday. Note – Prayer Shawl Ministry.

Our Sewing Ministry, also known as Dorcas, is a group of women who use their gifts to make baby layettes and comforters. They meet once a month on the 2nd Wednesday of each month beginning at 10:00AM in Hines Hall. Each person brings their own sack lunch. Those who can’t attend but would like to participate are encouraged to pick up supplies here at the church and work from home.
These layettes and comforters are made for babies at Mercy Health Center, Northwest Arkansas Medical Center, Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter, Northwest Arkansas Women’s Shelter, Havenwood, Head Start, and Decision Point.
