Sager Brown February 2024 Mission Trip Registration

Save the Date: February 4th-9th, 2024

Join us on a mission trip to the UMCOR Sager Brown facility in Baldwin, Louisiana. During the week of February 4-9, 2024, volunteers will assist with cleaning, organizing disaster relief supplies, light construction projects, and community outreach in the area.

This is a working mission trip, but also an opportunity for spiritual reflection and devotion.

Trip Details:

  • Sign-up Deadline: October 31, 2023
  • Cost: $330 per person (includes lodging and meals)
  • Transportation not included, but we'll coordinate as a group
  • Non-refundable payment due at registration

Second Street Pantry Suspending Benevolence

Second Street Pantry is temporarily suspending benevolence (assistance with rent, utilities, etc.) through the rest of the calendar year. We remind all of our congregation that you can give one-time or set up regular giving to the Pantry using our online giving or through designated gifts in the offering plate.

Hiring Part-Time Accountant

Our church is seeking to hire a part-time accountant since the departure of Amanda Genest from our staff. If you are interested or know someone who is, please contact Toni Hinrichs at  .


Community Events

Killers of the Flower Moon Discussion

Join us for a dinner and discussion about the movie "Killers of the Flower Moon." You can participate in person in the Gathering Room or online via Zoom.

In-person attendees will receive a light meal. We will not be watching the movie or reading the book together - please view/read it beforehand on your own.

Rev. Steven Spradling, a Native American UMC pastor, will lead the discussion.

Scholarship Chili Supper

You and your family are invited to a chili supper fundraiser hosted by the Chancel Choir in Hines Hall on Wednesday, October 18 at 5:30 p.m. Enjoy delicious chili and fixings, lovingly made by our choir members.

This is a free-will offering event. Proceeds will support the 2023-2024 FUMC Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to graduating seniors from Bentonville high schools.


Family ministries

Children's Ministries Monthly Mission

Once a month our children's Sunday School hour becomes a mission opportunity. On November 5, our children will be packing First Aid kits. These kits will go to our Second St. Pantry friends, as well as Havenwood families. Ms. Allison's goal is to make 100 kits that morning, and we need your help collecting the supplies needed to fill our kits. Please drop off any donations in the red baskets outside the office door.

DONATIONS NEEDED:

  1. small ointment tubes

  2. alcohol swab packets

  3. travel hand sanitizer

  4. Band-Aids, all sizes

  5. latex gloves

  6. gauze pad packets

Voyages of Paul Informational Meeting
In October 2024, take a journey that helps your faith come alive in new ways, and cruise the Mediterranean at the same time! To learn how, come to an informational meeting on Thursday, October 26 at 6 p.m. in person in the Gathering Room or via Zoom (Meeting ID: 814 7816 1636 Passcode: 72712).

  Methodism 101

Have questions about basic beliefs and practices in Methodism? New to Methodism or a longtime member who needs a refresher? Join Pastor Michelle in the Youth Common Space (2nd floor) for a 6 week class from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Sundays starting October 8 to learn about some of the basics of our particular type of Christianity. No need to sign up - just show up!

Fall Landscape Cleanup

Our lawn and landscaping are maintained entirely by volunteers. It is time to finish some projects and prepare for winter. We have a work day on November 4 from 8 a.m. until noon. Projects include completing work on the front of the sanctuary, removing or trimming some shrubs, weeding beds, and clearing leaves.
